This is video of the bolt on IR eye take-up system I developed for Mutoh ValueJet 1204’s.
Parts:
- Adafruit Trinket – Mini Microcontroller – 5V Logic
- VCNL4010 Proximity/Light sensor
- Hobby Servo + Linkage
- Plastic Enclosure
- Cable Gland
- Proto Board
- Pin Headers Male/Female
It just finished it’s trial by fire in our production environment. The system required calibration and some experimentation to find the optimal placement but nothing in terms of any redesign. It’s totally production capable and will handle a full roll of material unattended. To my knowledge there is no other system available for the machines let alone one capable of unattended printing at that level or for a reasonable price. I did it for less than $50 USD total including power supply, cables, case, cable glands, microcontroller, sensor, proto board, and servo.
