DIY Lockpick Set and Leather Case

This is a beginner lockpick set I made for a LEO to learn on.

I used a 0.025″ thickness bandsaw blade and pretty much eyeballed the shape and size. I finished the pick with 1000 grit after using various dremel attachments. The key, pun intended, to making good sturdy picks is to stay away from bimetal blanks like modern hacksaw blades and to quench often. The handle is made of layers of heatshrink tubing. The tension tool is made from a windshield wiper insert which is my absolute favorite material for making tension tools. The leather case was made pretty quick and dirty from scraps I’d been saving from my leather journal project. The feedback from the pick ended up being very good almost rivaling that which I get from my peterson hooks. I also included a set of kwikset cylinders that I repinned from one to five pins.
